After being initiated, members must attain 6 Professional, 6 Community Service, and 2 Social hours a semester to be considered as an active member. Of these hours, members must either participate in Junior Achievement, VITA, or Office Hours. Two hours of the required community service must be with one of the three programs listed above. Members, regardless of status, must pay $25 semester dues.
The benefits of remaining an active member are numerous. For one, active members are listed on the website with a full biography. Not only does this give members recognition at the chapter level, but potential employers will be able to see your accomplishments. Active members will also receive graduation memorabilia. If members are having trouble meeting the hour requirements, they should contact the president to discuss alternate options so that the member can remain active.
Worried about internships, studying abroad, or co-ops? Beta Alpha Psi supports career development and members are not penalized for participating in these growth programs. There are also no hour requirements when members decide to be on-leave.
